joey is an electronic lab notebook that treats your bench work as a connected whole, not a pile of blank pages, and puts an AI partner next to it that only ever speaks from real data.
Lab work is connected. A result points back to a protocol, a protocol borrows from a paper, and one reagent ties a dozen experiments together. Most notebooks throw that away the moment you write it down. joey keeps it: every entry is a typed node you can link, search, and lay out as a graph.
We built joey around two beliefs. First, your data is yours: private by default, shared only inside a lab you choose, and stored in your own database. Second, AI in the lab has to be honest. joey AI answers from your own experiments and cites real papers with working DOIs. It never invents a citation, and it never saves anything you didn't approve.
The result is one workspace for the whole lab: the notebook, mind graph, digitizer, shared inventory and equipment, and an AI partner, all in place of six disconnected tools.

Who builds joey.

Chenxi studies Biomedical Engineering at Cornell and works as a bench researcher across three labs. He runs C. elegans lifespan studies in the Lee Lab and built a MATLAB cell-biomechanics model in the Roeder Lab, and previously studied prostate cancer metabolism at Weill Cornell's Blenis Lab.
